'Waiting On' Wednesday #23: Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Image
Marissa Meyer turned some of the most beloved fairytales into epic steampunk-space war stories that chronicled the lives of  Cinder, Scarlet, Cress   and  Winter . Yes, the character names also moonlight as the titles of their stories and you can probably guess which character was whom in the original fairytale that inspired them. That said, the plotting was inspired. A massive weaving of four major characters into one huge undertaking that doesn’t always run concurrent but always overlaps; leads up to the battle for the galaxy. Seems wildly familiar, huh? Despite my description being very  StarWars -esque;   T he Lunar Chronicles  feel wholly unique and equally entertaining. Also, seriously how do you not want something written by Marissa Meyer? How do you not want her book writing about Alice in Wonderland's Queen of Hearts?! THE. BEST. MASHUP. EVER! DETAILS: Title:  Heartless Publisher: Feiwel & Friends Publishing date:  November 8,

'Waiting On' Wednesday #22: Half Lost by Sally Green

Image
The final book in the  Half Bad Trilogy  by Sally Green is gorgeous. Of course, the cover comes in a lovely metallic shade with a silhouette tree on it. The previous two novels in the series, followed the same graphic design. As a collector, remaining true to the other covers makes me immensely happy. SHINY! Also, the trilogy holds two Guinness World Records:  The Most Translated Book by a Debut Author, Pre-publication  — selling in a whopping 45 languages before it was released in the U.K. — and  Most Translated Children’s Book By a Debut Author . Fox 2000 purchased the film rights before the first book,  Half Bad , hit shelves and to show how serious they were about its development, Fox 2000 hired Karen Rosenfelt to produce. Rosenfelt comes from that other pretty well know YA-fantasy franchise —  Twilight . Yeah… you know, it’s no big deal. You can read the entire first chapter of  Half Lost   HERE . #TopTenTuesday: Books in 2015 I Should Have Read

Image
Thanks to the  Broke and the Bookish  for hosting. Inevitably, some books end up on the TBR pile that never actually get read in the year they were released. I do not have time nor do I believe it to be scientifically possible to read all the books my brain tells me I should read. Here are the top ten books from 2015, that I really hope to read one of these days. #1 --> Winter by Marissa Meyer must be read! I know, I know; but it's because "the end" books freak me out. No excuse, I know, since The Lunar Chronicles remain some of my favorite books to push onto others. #2 --> My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga shows up on all my favorite people's lists of must reads and so yeah... I really need to read this book even though... yet again I haven't! #3 -->  Uprooted by Naomi Novik   was  a book I really wanted to read. Actually purchased and then somehow ended up shuffled aside until viola! I have not read it yet.

Hello... in the next 24 hours get an e-copy of "Trixter" by Alethea Kontis for review

Image
FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS: If you are a YA blogger who wants to review TRIXTER, email Alethea Kontis at the following address: akontis@gmail.com and she will send you an electronic copy. Frequently, I push Alethea's books because --  1} She writes some of the best fairytale retellings and I buy all her books always.  2} She is so dang smart and researches the heck out of the fairytales she uses. 3} She wears massive amounts of glitter and is overall the princess she wants to be! 4} She works really hard for her successes and gives and gives of herself. 5} She's AWESOME. Okay... that's all you really needed to know anyway, right?

'Waiting On' Wednesday #21: Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

Image
Who absolutely adores the  Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn? Now romance doesn't feature regularly, heavily on my TBR pile but I still adore it especially when its infused with the homey hilarity that Quinn manages. She's got a golden touch of humor that makes me belly laugh out loud. DETAILS: Title:  Because of Miss  Bridgerton Publisher:  Avon Publishing date:  March 29, 2016 Author(s):  Julia Quinn Series:  Bridgerton SUMMARY: Sometimes you find love in the most unexpected of places… This is not one of those times. Either one would make a perfect husband… someday. Sometimes you fall in love with exactly the person you think you should… Or not. There is only one Rokesby Billie absolutely cannot tolerate, and that is  Georg

#TopTenTuesday : Bookish New Year Resolutions 2016 Edition

Image
Thanks to the  Broke and the Bookish  for hosting. My life lately has been controlled by sickness and in health issues... yes, my hubby had gastric bypass surgery and he's still recovering. I cannot believe how much weight he has lost but he's struggling to make the changes necessary to stay healthy now that he's missing three quarters of his stomach. I, of course, came back from NY Comic-Con with strep which transitioned into pneumonia and just overall when I was down, I couldn't get back up again. It happens. Music tells the story we so frequently feel is boring. Y'know what I mean? For now though, I am back and determined to do better this year! So yeah... how about that resolutions' list?! You all up for 2016 yet? Can you believe I'm starting out the year with a sinus infection. No? Me neither. #1 --> Read more books that have been on my shelf for years and I desperately want to read but let ARCs and blogging duties take precede
