BLOG TOUR: "Truly, Madly, Famously" by Rebecca Serle

Image
Some days you just sit back after a book and wallow in the misery. In the knowledge that the second just managed to hook you into the story so thoroughly that the wait of the next book - in this case, book three - seems like torture because you have to know what's going to happen to your lovely friends you've now hung out with twice and are rather too fond of. I don't get overly attached or anything to fictional characters. Nope. Not me. However, dang... who knew celebrity drama could make for such a good read? This triangle doesn't feel convoluted, inflated for sensationalism but like the real deal. Sometimes there's more than one person who can make your heart beat fast, you hands clammy and put a devilishly flirty twinkle in your eye. Don't knock it happens. The Famous In Love series currently is becoming a TV show on ABC Family... so yeah... I'm not the only one thinking this series has all the potential to become unmissable entertainment.

BLOG TOUR EXCLUSIVE: "Brutal Youth" by Anthony Breznican

Image
When Stephen King blurbs a book, of course, I think horror. How can you not? He's the master and so it was surprising to me to see his name show up on the front of Brutal Youth by Anthony Breznican. Not because, I don't think King reads a multitude of genres, books; but because Brutal Youth seemed like another contemporary coming of age story - at least that's what I thought before taking a closer look.  When examined further, Brutal Youth 's keen focus on how adults let down young people much more often than not in the education system paints a horrifically clear picture. A technicolor novel so real in its fictional narrative where rebellion is not sparked by juvenile delinquency, but by the credence of a teenage perspective that aims to call out adults feeding into the student-eat-student-alive mentality; and readers (at least I did) will hope they've been transplanted into a horror novel rather than own up to the reality that inspired it. Because as King pr

'Waiting On' Wednesday #20: Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret Stohl

Image
The most amazing thing about Margaret Stohl is that she is awesome, okay?! She lives life as if every day should be the grandest of adventures. Such a free spirit who just goes for it and expects happy endings. She's infectious too. Spend some time with her and you'll know exactly what I mean.  So seeing her paired with one of my all time faves... it's serendipity. Black Widow needed Margie, because she needed someone who could delve into the darkness of Natasha's  backstory and come out with a fractured hero and slowly piece her together again without losing the depth of character and multi-facets that come with this lady assassin. Check over at Fangirlish.com , the 12th of October for an exclusive interview I will post because Margie is too nice to me and I love her too much not to ask ALL the QUESTIONS. #TopTenTuesday: Ten Movies I Love Based On Books

Image
Thanks to the  Broke and the Bookish  for hosting. Yay... today is a freebie and I wanted to be all over this post since well... it has been dead around here. However, school is kicking my butt as well as a bad reaction to having my eyes dilated yesterday for an eye exam. The migraine set in half way through the day and ugh... anyone who has migraines knows what a pain they are. 1. Pride & Prejudice [all of them!]  From Greer Garson to Keira Knightley to Jennifer Ehle to Bride & Prejudice: the musical - they all are ever so fun and romantic and likable 2. The Maze Runner  I did not like this series. However, the films have managed to pull the best parts of the story, which kept me reading despite not really connecting on a relatable level to the characters. This cast is so cute too!  3. Clueless  As a movie from book adaptation... I think it is rather brilliant. As a cult film, I adore how it still stands the te

#TopTenTuesday: Ten Characters I Didn't Click With

Image
Thanks to the  Broke and the Bookish  for hosting. Oh wow! Do some of these topics just seem too difficult when you first read them, but as you start thinking about it, you get on a roll and then hit a brick wall? That's how this week's Top Ten Tuesday went for me. So let's see if I can get to ten... hmmm. Michael from The Eye of Minds .  To be honest, this book turned me off to the rest of the series. James Dashner's style doesn't work for me and he tends to use a similar plot for each of his series. While I adore Dylan O'Brien and The Maze Runner movies, the source material for them very much irritated me, even though I did manage to read all three of them but not the prequel. Which is my long way of saying, I read The Eye of Minds , did not click with the main character and was completely turned off of the series. Miss April Spink and Miss Mirian Forcible from Caroline .  While I adore Neil Gaim
